New Name, Same Spirit.

FUMC Prairie Campus has become Prairie United Methodist Church.

Prairie began as a campus of First United Methodist Church and has now chartered as its own United Methodist congregation. Read below to learn what has changed, what is staying the same, and how you can be part of Prairie’s next chapter.

Where we started:

Nearly seven years ago, Prairie launched as a satellite campus of First United Methodist Church (FUMC). Just months later, COVID changed everything, and with the support of FUMC leadership, Pastor Patty helped Prairie pivot from a video-venue model to a drive-in church—preaching from the back of a pickup truck while worshippers tuned in by FM radio. Through two freezing winters and a blazing summer, Prairie not only endured—it grew, becoming an upstart faith community with a strong identity of its own. Today, Prairie is a vibrant, financially self-sustaining congregation with steady growth, strong lay leadership, and a clear sense of mission in our context.

Where we’re going:

As Prairie has grown in maturity—and as our lay folks have expressed readiness for self-governance, we have become a newly chartered church: Prairie UMC. For chartering FAQs, click here.

How you can join in:

We held a Constituting Charge Conference on May 10 at worship where we officially chartered! We will hold a celebration on May 31 at worship, and would love for you to join us.
